Squamish, British Columbia is one of the best destinations in the world to come for a kiteboarding holiday. Squamish, meaning mother of wind, brings strong consistent winds and sunshine through the summer months.

Unlike most beach destinations, there is so many other activities to take part in when there is no wind, or when you just want a day off kiting. Enjoy endless hikes, mountain bike rides, kayaking, white water rafting, wakeboarding, SUP, golf and so much more.

Just 45 minutes north is the world famous Whistler Blackcomb and just 45 mins south is the city of Vancouver. Between the three destinations, there are endless possibilities of things to do.

Begin your kiteboarding holiday at Aerial Kiteboarding, where our friendly and experienced staff can give you all the necessary information on the wind, weather and safety of the riding spot in Squamish. Meet some local riders and hangout for a BBQ.

There are two launching locations in Squamish, The Spit and Nexen Beach:

Nexen Beach is often gusty, with direct on-shore winds and plenty of obstacles in the water such as pilings, boats and dead trees. This spot is not a safe launching area for beginners because of these obstacles.

The Spit is the second launch spot and also the safer option. Here there is a membership or daily riding fee here as the Squamish Windsports Society provide a rescue. The rescue service is in place to protect the Squamish Estuary and as safety to riders as the winds are offshore. The Spit is an amazing place to ride from, but as the winds are offshore it is only appropriate to rider who can go upwind.

Lessons are mandatory for beginners in Squamish until you have mastered all independence skills, including upwind riding. Learning to kiteboard in Squamish is an amazing and stress free process as all lessons are taught from boats. This allows our instructors to bring all beginners upwind and away from other kiteboarders.
